4th March. 7th and 10th of March are Robert and Steve’s birthdays respectively. Since Steve and Helen are leaving for UK tomorrow today was selected as their joint official birthday. Twenty of us sat down to dinner at L’Abbayotte. As usual it was a fine evening with an announcement of impending Grandparenthood for Jane and Robert!
7th March. Another magical concert at Sauconna. The group was French but played West African instruments including the lovely and complex Cora and sang African songs.
There haven’t been many posts recently but that is not because nothing has been going on, just nothing very different. Monday afternoons is two hours French conversation, Tuesday and Thursday afternoons feature one and a half hours Yoga with “Take-no-prisoners Bernadette”, Wednesday evenings is boater’s social at a local pub; The weather is warming up and I have started cycling again so all is right with the world.
14th Went to Longchamp, a nearby small town, to the open day at the school of ceramic art.
Everything was on display from the basic design concepts, to the finished articles with some of the methods being actively demonstrated as in the potter’s wheel and mounld method worshops.
To the hand painting….
To finished articles from flowerpots, to jewelry and statues to plates!
19th. This afternoon I went out with four French friends, Virtudes, Claude and Marie-Jeanne to the Abbay Citeau and then on to the wine area of Nuits St George to the Imaginarium and Cassissium to taste and buy wine and cassiss based products. My brain was completely addled after a full on afternoon of French chatter. A pleasant boaters drinks at the Suconna ended the day.
20th There was a partial eclipse of the sun today. From St Jean it was only about 80% . The only photo worth saving made our sun look like the star it is but did nothing to capture the eclipse!
26th Picked up Peter from the station in the evening.
28th Took Peter and Germaine to Toison D’Or to look at furniture and for Germaine to order a new oven having burnt hers out! I also came home with a new T.V.
30th Last Franglaise of the season saw us all going out to Nicole’s charming house in Belmont again, as we had at approximately this time last year.
