2nd. For the last two days in warm sunshine Cassidy and I have been crossing the fields to the hamlet of Chantier, pictured above, traversing the village and coming back down to Meschers through the fields again. Today I spotted a set of distinct Wild Boer prints in the mud!

11th. Went to Mornac sur Seudre with Monique for a walk this afternoon in nice warm sunshine. Lots of the Fishers cabins have been repainted and story boards have been attached to many of them telling the stories of the original owners. The Cabins are now used for recreational purposes.

16th. For the last three mornings we have woken to really hard frosts. Something unprecedented since I have been in this region of France. Last evening I forgot to bring back in the bowls of water that I had put out for the birds and there was 2cms of ice in them.
Yesterday I took my camera out to capture the beauty of this freezing winter landscape including the spiders webs….

…and the weeds and trees.

30th. The month has ended with the high pressure still in place and the same very cold, quite still and rather grey weather, so back to the paint pots and more birthday cards! Practice isn’t necesarily making perfect but I do see some improvement, which is heartening.
