October 2015

15th October Back in St Jean we had until yesterday been enjoying an Indian Summer with glorious sunny day that facilitated lovely walks and cycle rides along the river. Yesterday it turned wintery. Steve and Helen on Jonge Jella and Glennie and Pete on Slomotion arrived back in town, tired after a long and cold days cruise. We met for drinks, being Wednesday, at  Sauconna but had to de-camp to Brasserie du Port as Erik was evidently still having his afternoon nap! Then they came up to mine for a nice hot curry.

Meanwhile life settles into the routine of winter activities.  Franglais, French conversation classes are back in full swing on Monday afternoons. Yoga occupies a good part of Tuesday and Thursday afternoons and Wednesday drinks have started again but there are not many in port to support this. Last week I| had been down to Gurgy to pick up Georgie off The Murial who was refusing to start, as she had to fly to UK to help care for her sick Father. David and Pamela are not yet back on the Canal de Borgoyne and quite a few boaters that were here last winter have either moved south, sold up or taken their boats back to the UK. Lets hope we get an injection of fresh blood.

Friday 16th. Took a walk along the river to the old lock with Thérèse, on the way back the town looked lovely in the afternoon sun.

25th, Sunday. A lovely mild day as I walked along the tow path or the Canal de Bourgogne to the Farm, L’Abbayotte to meet Steve & Helen and Pete & Glennie for lunch. Unfortunately Pete and Glennie did not make it, both having been smitten by the lurgie!
