The winter weather finally arrived in the middle of the month with the first snows in St Jean de Losne.

24th Jan. VillCo hosted a collectors market in the village Hall for collectors of Féve. These are charms, usually ceramic. that are put into the cakes “Gallette de Roi” which are consumed on 6th January at Epiphany. The tradition is that the youngest and smallest member of the family goes under the table and calls out the names of the people sitting round the table one by one. They are given their slice of the cake in that order. The person who has the charm in their slice is the “King” or “Queen” and dons the golden crown that is always provided with the cakes when they are sold. The Féve come representations of just about anything you can think of.
By the end of the month the weather had turned very mild again. Snow drops are out, other bulbs are budding, Japonica is flowering and spring is in the air!
