6th The best dog in the world

and I were on the beach with the camera this morning to try and capture the lighthouse at sunrise. The beaches were opened again to dogs on the 1st and we have been down there every morning since.
and this morning we were able to watch the moon go down as the sun came up and at one point provide a halo for the lighthouse.

In the afternoon we went to explore the small town of Saujon sur Seudre, about 10k away. It has a nice waterfront and good walks along the river. They seem to have a summer decoration theme of pink umbrellas! And yes in early October it still feels like a summer afternoon.

There is also a Thermal Baths that look as though they are now a private clinic.
This I have to share with you. Listening to the PM program this evening that had an interview with an economics reporter discussed the recent announcement that the productivity figures in Britain had been over reported for the last seven years explaining some of the current economic malaise. And guess what Britain AND the USA both have lower productivity than France, a country that they regularly pillory for their 35hr weeks and socialist policies! Vive La France!
18th. The weather continues to be absolutely gorgeous, facilitating more and longer beach walks. Here are some scenes along the way featuring the carralettes (fishing huts), fishing boats and secret beaches.
Ist November in France is “All Saints Day” and the 2nd is “All Souls Day” part of the celebrations of these days is the placing of chrysanthemums on the graves of the departed. To facilitate this all the florists and the garden centers are full of potted plants. Very colouful.

26th. I have an appointment with the campingcar company in Rochfort tomorrow so have gone a day ahead to have a look at the “Transport” bridge over the Charent and soend the night at Soubise, a pretty village on the river. The bridge is undergoing a major repair funded by the government and is clothed in scaffolding. It is not open to the public during the repairs but is none the less am impressive structure set against the modern road bridge. There is a site museum and good story boards.
