4th Disappointingly my appointment for my first Covid vaccine has been cancelled due to lack of stocks. I have been in touch with the clinic and they are suggesting March for re-commencement so maybe my March 4th date which should have been for my second jab will be available for the first one.
On a happier note, Cassidy and I had a soggy but sunny walk in the fields this afternoon. There was a real feel of spring in the air with clouds of midges, much more small bird activity and the mimosa (see featured image at the top of the page) beginning to come into flower.
Signs of Spring

5th. Finished off the latest series of watercolours that I have made into cards today.

8th. One of the construction trucks obviously took the turn out of the development too fast earlier and found itself leaving the road and getting stuck at a precarious angle in the mud at the edge of the field. Ultimately a huge rescue truck arrived and pulled it out. This must have cost the enterprise concerned a lot and I wouldn’t like to be in the shoes of the driver when he has to explain himself to his boss!
9th. I found a letter in my post box today from the national health authority inviting me to make appointments for my vaccine on the same day that I received an e-mail telling me that my appointment which should have been for my second shot was cancelled. I have tried without success to make new appointments on-line but it seems that supplies have run out again. You really to have to be quick on the draw.
The nasty cold and wet weather of the last few days have stimulated more work on the art front with the production of bookmarks from off cuts. Wuite pleased with them and really enjoy the process.

11th. Further signs of spring on this morning’s very chilly walk. Wild violets, Daiseys and Bladder Campion popping up on the verges.

12th Great news as I received my new appointments for my 1st and 2nd Covid vaccines, now scheduled for the 22nd Feb and the 20th March.
14th. A frustrating day watching the screen of my old computer in order to navigate, ever so ponderously, to the excel file that I lost when the machine crashed. At the end of the day I had to give up and have resigned myself to reconstructing it. The down time was an opportunity to create a couple of new bookmarks.

16th. Warmer and dry facilitating a nice mix of work and walks. Two new cards produced.

21st. More ship paintings today. Most satisfying.

24th More signs of spring on the afternoon walk with Cassidy and Martine, from across the road.
26th I have been spotting an interesting bird of prey lately which I was unable to identify. A bit of on line research lead me to think it might be a Hen Harrier so I have been taking my binos along on our walks to try and get a better look and a confirmed sighting. Sod law says that it wont show itself now that I have the binos with me but what I did see this afternoon was a pair of male black pheasants or as they are more properly called Melanistic Mutant Pheasants. With Cassidy along there was no chance of creeping up on them for a better photo so you will have to make do with an on-line image.
