April, May & June – 2025

A period of tumolt and change. Putting the french house on the market. Packing up the contents and arranging the shipping. All the attendant paperwork necessary to acheive a move half way round the world. It should have been a period of unalloyed Excitement and Joy. But that did not take into account Cassidy’s roll in all this.

Without doubt he was coming with me. An enterprise specialising in the ttransport of pets was duly engaged, deposti paid, dates set. Just the small matter of the vetinary clearance required by the South African authorities. I will not go into the whole sorry saga here but surfice it to say that he tested positive for one of the communicable diseases that if found prohibits the import of the animal into RSA. There was an horrendous period when it was not clear whether he would have to be put down or not. That hurdle has been tearfully navigated and he has received a reprise. I have found him a new home among a family who own a small holding and a campsite not 100m from where we live and although I will miss him terribly, I am at least assurred that his life will continue in a good home with people who he likes and who like him.

So a little celebration of my georgeous boy

Early morning walk past a fast ripening wheat field, and it is only June!

21st. Waiting for me outside the SuperU supermarket this morning

The haymaking has already started with our early spring and very warm weather, they will doubtless get at least one more load off these fields before summer is out.

23rd A trip to Royan for lunch with Giselle, one of many little moments shared with friends and neighbors in a “farewell” to France. A chance for some last photos of the yatch basin and sea front promenade and gardens
