Lots happening over the last 6 weeks or so. quotes for a wood burning stove, air conditioners in lounge and bedroom and solar panels for the roof. The A/C has been installed in time for the first heat wave! Thank goodness. The wood burning stove in work in progress and I have the technical visit by the Solar installers later this month.
In addition the lack of rain can be said to amount to drought now. Wouldn’t you know it, no sooner do I buy myself a Kayak than the rivers dry up! The Suedre is looking like a very sorry muddy ditch. I did get out on it once when it was low enough to get under all of the three town bridges at Saujon and into the surrounding countryside. The downside of the low river was a restricted view of tree roots and muddy banks though.
The other project is the new van. Having had two parking fines in as many months I was forced to think more seriously about the draw back of a camper being the sole vehicle. While mine was in with the dealer for a new water pump, I wandered around the lot and found another Campereve fit out on a Ford Transit base. About the size of a VW Combi it has all the facilities that mine has except less storage, a pop-top roof bed and a good “downstairs” bed, a toilet, fridge, cooking facilities etc. To merit the extremely good trade in offer, which would mean the last 7 years of ownership has cost me Euro 11,000, I had to replace the tyres, have the small dent in the front fixed and the camm belt repaired. Cassidy and I were in Rochefort for the last of these repairs on Monday and walked to the Port for a Moulle Frit lunch.

The delivery of the new van is not scheduled till October so photos then. In the meantime photos of the new wood burner once the installation is finished. Watch this space
