March – 2026

3rd Dove into the Waterfront to meet up with old friends passing through Cape Town on their way to the airport to return to London. 25 mins to get into the Waterfront from home an 1 hr 25mins to get back in the rush hour.

The Wterfront is such a monument to rampant consumerism but it does have lovely viws up Table Mountain and Greenpeace were in town

an of course it was an absolut bonus to meet up with Niel and Lucy again.

14th Francophone Festival at the Belgium Embassy today so Lyn and I decided to pop along and have a look. There were reprsentations from Switzerland, Greece and France (waffels and crepes with the inevitable Nutella!) but also stalls offering Vanilla from Madagascar and traditional food from many francophon countries. Their was a Francophone African band and people watching was th best with is diverse representation of the Railbow Nation.

20th. With rising petrol prices and in the interest of a shorter comunte, I took Zara to Muizenberg beach this morning. It was a cooler night with much needed rain and the cloud lingered in the morning leading to an interesting sky.

And of course this is one of the beaches in the Deep South that sports the colourful Victorian beach huts.

22nd Lunch at The Reef, Kalk Bay, with Kevin and Nita.

They chose the SeaFood Platter which was enornous, to the extent that we took the calamari home and enjoyed it for dinner with salad!

23rd. Kevin came with me for the morning beach walk

Zara doesn’t loike a sandy ball!

But does enjoy the beach.

25th. Sun rise on the beach this morning. What a way to start the day.

26th. Another Dy, Another sunrise.

and the oposing sides of False Bay on our afternoon walk.

29th. I have had Kevin and Nita staying for a few days and as a “thankyou” they took us all to Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens for a “Summer Concert” featuring the CapeTown philharmonic doing “Peter and the Wolf”. This was really aimed at the children and there was a good trun out all with their picnic blankets and bottles of wine!

The performance went on into the early evening and the rise of a nearly full moon.

Sunrises on the 30th and 3st. What a way to start the day
